A Gallery and A Garden
9 Oct saw my family in Gosford Regional Gallery and Gosford/Edogawa Commemorative Garden. I enjoyed both places. The gallery did not cram all paintings together, I would have breathing problems when beautiful things are squeezed. My daughter loved one painting done on aluminum. The link is here.
The garden was tiny, gorgeous, featuring a Koi Pond with waterlilies, a tea house, dry stone garden and stone lanterns. A nice place for weekends.

A famous Chinese painting
A traditional Chinese painting was displayed on a wall in China Pavilion this year's World Expo. The name of it is Qing Ming Shang He Tu (清明上河圖), meaning the riverside scene at the day of Qingming festival. It was painted by one of the Song Dynasty's greatest artists, Zhang Zeduan (960 -1127) about 980 years ago. It is a very long hand painted silk handscroll and has been kept in the Palace Museum, Beijing, China. It is on the top list of Chinese art treasures in China and only shown to public every 25 years. The last exhibition of this painting was held in Shanghai Museum, Shanghai, China in early January 2003 and it attracted hundred thousands of visitors. The painting presents the busy life in an ancient Chinese capital city with fine details: a large rainbow bridge, busy streets, shops and restaurants, a river with boats, animals, carriages, trees, hundreds of people doing different things... This silk painting is excellently designed in book style and is convenient for reserving and treasuring up.
The displayed painting was not the original one, it was an enlarged replica using modern technologies, which make all people in the painting acting as what they were doing on that day: shopping, cleaning, playing, eating, drinking, seeing a doctor, all kinds of workers at that era. Fantastic job, the following photo shows a small part of the painting.
